Color your hair safely
When done by a professional, both chemical services can be done. You
should not be lighten permed or relaxed hair more than one shade and
generally prefer to use a demi-permanent to return color and shine to
the hair.
For at home coloring, you should use hair color product which contains
No ammonia or peroxide that it is safe and gentle to use on permed or
relaxed hair.
Always do a strand test for proper timing and remember color will not
lighten hair but it can match your natural color or you can go darker
or change shades. Remember, coloring your hair roots first so the grey
gets covered and then do the chemical service.
Color hair during pregnancy
There has been no evidence of any danger from coloring hair. You'd
better have your doctor explain 'why' if they suggest you don't. We
suggest you don't but if it is going to bother you more to have roots,
then we suggest coloring.
About temporary color
Thinking of coloring your hair with a temporary color? If your hair is
chemically treated, temporary colors may not wash out. Always do a test
strand, even with temporary colors to see if they will, if fact, wash
out. If your hair is porous, dry, or damaged, haircolor can stain and
not completely wash out, even if the box says it will only last a few
shampoos. Save yourself a lot of grief by doing a strand test before
doing any color application.
